Mopani celebrates40 years!
A decade in, the Mopani Family grew to a staff of 36 and the store more than doubled again. The photo lab moved to its own location
in a nearby mall and the pharmacy added a Primary Health Clinic with two consulting rooms and qualified Sisters to consult patients. A retail section was also introduced at that stage for the sale of fragrances and cosmetics.
By its 21st birthday Mopani was busting out of its seams again! In July 2003 Mopani set up shop in the then, brand new Crossing Centre.
In July 2008, the Mopani Card was introduced which not only allows you to earn points, but saves you time at all the dispensaries. With a simple swipe the pharmacist has instant access to your profile and can serve you better. Cardholders also know first-hand about
upcoming promotions and events.
The growth of Mopani was phenomenal, something
awesome was happening every year.
The next year the Mopani Baby Club was born, which, true to form, has grown beyond all expectations. The baby club is much loved by every mom in the Lowveld, offering support, information, encouragement and pampering to parents, with the added bonus of
specialised gifts and goodies to sample.
New Mopani Baby Club members will receive a complementary Welcome Bag filled with information on the Baby Club as well as services offered, vouchers to use in-store or online as well as product
information pamphlets. Then, as soon as members reach their qualifying spend (tracked on the Mopani Card system) of R1250 they qualify to receive Bag two which is filled with practical surprises, sourced especially for baby, to assist you at the start of your journey.
Spencer was adopted into the Mopani family and homed at the Crossing Centre branch In October 2011. It is an automated dispensary system from
Germany.
This led to our third store launch in White River Square – our first expansion outside Nelspruit. The same year saw Mopani’s first Baby Expo. Two years later the Chronic Medicine Program was introduced. EasyPlan, a dispensing system developed to improve adherence and simplify complicated prescriptions with blister packs. It is a convenient, 7-day pack with individual packaging for every time of the day.
Spencer accurately dispenses medicine, picking and pulling with robotic arms, to help our pharmacists serve our customers quickly and efficiently. In 2012 Rob once again saw the opportunity to expand, and incorporated the Danie Malan Pharmacy into the Mopani group.

In April 2016, the flagship store at Crossings expanded to a whopping 2578m² and a total of 135 permanent employees! The upgraded store boasts an impressive retail trading area of 1603m², a brand-new coffee shop (Mopani Fresh) and two separate clinics; the Wellness
Clinic and the Homegrown Babies Clinic, respectively. Even Spencer got an upgrade.
And, of course, the growth continued the next year when I’langa store enjoyed its own revamp and expansion to 1500m² and 53 staff members. They got their very own world-class dispensing robot, she
was named Molly.
Two more babies were added to the family in 2018. Steiltes Centre Mopani store in the suburbs of Nelspruit, opened in May that year.
