Track Santa online
Tracking Santa’s activities over the Christmas season is not a new concept. In fact, it started in the 1950’s by sheer mistake. Apparently, Sears accidently printed the wrong number in their Christmas catalogue. Instead of printing the number for their Santa hotline, they printed the number for the Colorado Springs’ Continental Air Defense Command (CONAD) Centre’s phone number! So CONAD ws inundated with excited calls from children wanting to speak to the man in red.
This led to lots of fun so CONAD began
publishing Santa’s journey in the news-paper every year. CONAD then passed on the tradition to NORAD (the North American Aerospace Defense Command), a few years later.
Today there are many ways to track Father Christmas, but the best of these is Google and NORAD.
NORAD SANTA TRACKER
This website is operated by the US military and shows military-style colonels presenting a video about Santa and live info about where he is at that moment. It is a very basic website compared to others, but is still extremely popular.
The app and the website go live on 1 December. There is a timer that counts down the days until Santa starts his expedition. Then, every day they provide links to different Christmas games in the count-down to the big day.
On Christmas Eve a 3D map appears which tracks Santa and his sleigh around the world, delivering presents, showing where he’s off to next and what he gets up to. NORAD has also added in an AI chatbot called Radar to help you spot Santa too. ‘NORAD Tracks Santa’ is a Google Play app.
GOOGLE SANTA TRACKER
Explore, play and learn with Santa’s elves all December long. There are a whole host of mini games to play, as well as a countdown to Christmas Eve. You can track Santa, go to Santa’s Village, take a Santa selfie, play games and many more exciting options to keep kids entertained and supply some education at the same time.
Google’s tracker makes it easy to follow Santa around the world, whether it is on your iPhone, Android or desktop.
TRACK HIM ON GOOGLE MAPS TOO
All you need to do is open the app, click on the search bar and type in ’Santa Claus’. An image of Santa will pop up and you will be able to see exactly where he is.
